Frankly, I think they were both being friendly, and sitting that close together, it’s hard to not look like you’re gazing and flirting a bit. It’s the proximity of it all. ;) But to say he was merely being “platonic” while she was “blatantly flirting” is rather one-sided and ignoring they both gave as good as they got from each other. And I think she knew he was nervous and was trying to put him at ease.
But he flirted with Viola? If anything, he seems in awe of her; it’s sweet. When he complimented her dress at the GGs, her husband was right there., I don’t think he was making any moves!

I didn’t see it that way. She would play on his every comment and often include him in her jokes. He seemed a lot casual. If anything, he has a crush on Clooney.
